Natural Gas rates likely to rise 9% in near future

Southwest Gas, seeking to legally recover the higher wholesale price of natural gas it pays, will be asking the State Public Utilities Commission to grant it a 9% rate increase on all of its customers in Carson City and throughout Northern Nevada. If approved, the higher rates would take effect November 1st.
The average gas bill would be expected to rise $12.43 a month in the Winter, and $3.60 a month in the Summer, again starting November 1.
A public hearing on the rate hike is set for this Monday, 6pm, Hearing Room A, PUC offices at 1150 E. William (Hwy50E).

The formal PUC hearings are set for September 8th and 17th, with video conferencing and taking of testimony from SW Gas, the Consumer Advocates Office, PUC staff and the public
will be at the same location in Carson City (video conferencing). The PUC Commmissioners will be meeting in Las Vegas.
