Hope and the promise of it for hundreds of Carson City area cancer patients lands on the lawn of the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center today. HopeFest, an annual benefit concert that will feature the music of Mo5aic and The Cutters, is one of the Carson City's biggest fundraising events with 100 percent of the money raised going directly to supports local cancer patients in need.

HopeFest was created because of the overwhelming nature of finances that a cancer diagnosis takes on patients and their families. Upon receiving a life threatening cancer diagnosis, patients and families should be able to focus on healing. Unfortunately that is not always the case. For many, in addition to the stress of the disease, they also have to deal with an accompanying financial crisis. As a result, families need help with basic things like gas to get to treatment, a place to stay for extended care, a helping hand with insurance co-pays.

That’s why HopeFest was created, said Kitty McKay, officer for the Carson Tahoe Foundation.

HopeFest is being made possible through the generous help of local musicians and Carson City area businesses. Mo5aic and The Cutters, will make up the entertainment part of the festival. Food and drink sponsors are The Firkin & Fox and High Sierra Brewing Company. Dick Campagni's Carson City Toyota and Capital Ford, for the fifth straight year, is giving $10,000 in cash or a new car for the HopeFest raffle.

All are welcome to come to this free community benefit, have fun and make a real difference in the lives of local cancer patients by lessoning some of the financial burden of cancer patience.  Last year HopeFest raised $37,000. This year's goal is $100,000 because the needs in the community have dramatically increased, organizers say.

Come for a rockin’ good time, have a hand-crafted beer or glass of wine, a enter the raffle for your chance to win a new car, and (if you can) add a donation to the HopeChest.

Bring your family, friends, neighbors (and lawn chair). The event is free and runs from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, 1535 Medical Parkway On the CTRH Medical Campus. For more information call (775) 445.5161 or visit www.CarsonTahoe.org.
