Man jailed for reckless driving, nearly hit children while allegedly doing 'doughnuts' in parking lot

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Nov. 8, 7:28 p.m. in the 3000 block of North Roop Street. He faces a gross misdemeanor charge of child endangerment and a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.

According to the arrest report, the man, driving a red 1998 Ford Mustang, was accelerating quickly, spinning his tires and doing "doughnuts" in a convenience store parking lot near the gas pumps in front numerous citizens and small children. It was observed that people were grabbing their children and moving them to safety away from the vehicle as the man was pulling the stunts.

Officers pulled over the man and arrested him for reckless driving wanton disregard and child endangerment. One citizen filled out a statement stating that her 9-year-old daughter was at the gas pumps with her and was in fear, "crying and very upset."

Other citizens informed the officer that they too had children nearby and were in fear for their safety. The store clerk stated that the man had been in the store recently and on other occasions had burned and peeled out, nearly hitting customers in the past. Bail: $3,137.

In other arrests:
A Carson City man was arrested Nov. 10, 4:06 a.m. in the 100 block of East Telegraph. He faces misdemeanor charges of obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct.

According to the arrest report officers observed the man punch and knock an unidentified man to the ground in front of the patrol car. The officer activated his emergency lights and then exited the patrol car where the man was observed still punching the victim. The officer demanded the man to stop.

The man told the officer "f*** y**" then threw another punch at the victim, the arrest report states. The officer ordered the man to stop, in which case the man balled up his fists and charged the officer, who drew a taser and deployed it. Tthe man sidestepped the probe and took off running. He was caught near Anderson and Musser streets and faces charges of obstructing and disorderly conduct. Bail: $654.

— A 45-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Nov. 9, 4:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Carson Street. She faces misdemeanor charges of being in violation of a suspended sentence and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2132.

— A 52-year-old Carson City man was arrested Nov. 9. 4:26 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Carson Street. he faces misdemeanor charges of failure to appear in traffic court and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,276.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Nov. 9, 2:14 p.m. at a convenience store at Highway 50 and College Parkway. He faces misdemeanor charges of failure to appear on a warrant, possession of drug paraphernalia, possess of of marijuana, and driving on a revoked license. Bail: $3,011.

— A man was arrested Nov. 9, 8:53 a.m. in the area of Fifth and Roop streets. He faces charges of disorderly conduct and obstructing. Bail: $649.

— A transient was arrested Nov. 9, 2:05 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Curry Street. He faces a charge of contempt of court, warrant. Bail: $622.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Nov. 9, 3:42 a.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street. He faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and open container. Bail: $484.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Nov. 8, 7:15 p.m. in the 3300 block of Market Street. He faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
The man reportedly hit his girlfriend with a closed fist during an argument while sitting in a car and then grabbed her by the hair, pulled her over the center console of the car and forced her face down in his lap, striking her in the back of the head with a closed fist, the arrest report states. The man denied hitting the woman with a closed fist but admitted to slapping her. Bail: $3,137.

— A Carson City man was jailed Nov. 8 for two counts misdemeanor battery, possession of paraphernalia and being arrested while on probation. He was arrested in the 1800 block of North Edmonds. The man was thrown out of a casino. One security officer had fresh marks on his chin and cheek where he was scratched by the man. Bail: $5,274.

—A 32-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Nov. 8, 5:10 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street. She faces a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny after attempting to take items valued at $108.58 from Walmart. Bail: $347.

— A 58-year-old Carson City man was arrested Nov. 8, in the 2100 block of East William Street. He faces a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. The man was fighting with security officers and was told to leave after harassing female employees. The man was escorted outside and cuffed after he grabbed security officers. The man, who was intoxicated, refused to take a preliminary breath test and told the arresting deputy that he was going to kick his ass. Bail: $242.

Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
