Emergency crews responded during the 2pm hour Wednesday afternoon to a report of a car into a medical building at 844 West Nye, Dr. Palazollo’s Optometrist Office. An 84 year old woman said she pulled into the driveway, went to park her car in a parking space but hit the gas instead of her brake. She took out two porch overhang pillars before coming to rest in the bushes. The woman admitted to taking medications but, according to deputies, none should have caused any problems for her. Her insurance company is suddenly in the repair construction business. She was not cited since the accident occurred on private property.
Then a Carson High School bus with two students yet to drop off was rear-ended at South Carson and Colorado. Witnesses say the bus was headed southbound on Carson approaching Colorado, with it’s right turn signal going. However, a car came up behind it and slammed into the right rear of the bus. Driver of the car pulled her badly damaged Lexus over the sidewalk and parked it on Colorado. Both occupants were wearing their seat belts. The passenger complained about chest pain caused by the belt keeping her in place. No one on the bus was hurt. The driver of the car told the NHP that she had just pulled out from a stop sign near the old Army National Guard Building when she saw a car coming up behind her at a high rate of speed. Fearing a rear-ender accident she said she jammed down on her gas pedal to avoid being hit. However she did not anticipate the bus turning right off of Carson and she slammed into the back of it. The NHP said the driver of the car was being cited for failure to exercise due care while driving.
Then at 2:57pm this afternoon, another injury accident reported at North Carson and Winnie. Ambulances were enroute to a report that one elderly person suffered a very minor head injury.
